Stick + Stitch embroidery patches are a really easy and fun way to customise anything from clothes to bags to trainers ... you name it! If you can sew on it, you can do it.
They're perfect for beginners because you just need to stick them on like a sticker and sew over the lines. You don't even need an embroidery hoop, just a needle and some thread. Then when you're done, pop it in some water and watch the patch dissolve away leaving just your stitching behind.
I'm going to give you a little guide how to use stick and stitch embroidery patches - and at the bottom there's a video demonstration too.
Getting started
Remove the backing and stick it to your fabric. Press it firmly and make sure it is well stuck down.

Smooth fabric works best - you may need to use some pins or stitches to help hold it in place on more textured fabric. Try not to remove and re-stick the pattern as it won't be as sticky the second time.
Sewing your design
Stitch over the pattern as normal. If the needle gets a bit gummy, you can wipe it with rubbing alcohol.

Washing away the pattern
When you're finished, place the finished piece in a shallow bowl of lukewarm water. Make sure the water completely covers the fabric and leave it for 5-10 minutes.

You can use cold water but it'll take longer. Be careful the water is not too warm if your fabric hasn't been pre-washed as it could cause it to shrink.
Shake the fabric in the water to remove any loose bits of paper, then give the fabric one final rinse and lay it somewhere flat to dry.
